STR3EM allows content providers to deliver multimedia presentations in a single file with the quality of a retail CD or DVD. Think of STR3EM as a multimedia variant to Microsoft's PowerPoint application. If you are familiar with PowerPoint files, then you understand the concept of STR3EM. The STR3EM application is available for free at Cnet's download.com and has an optional system to generate and manage access passwords.

STR3EM creates .st3 files and reserves the .wiki extension for files linked to Wikipedia.org using the built in web browser option. Since the STR3EM Browser can host any URL, the application will not play files when the original extension has been manually changed (for example, if a .st3 file extension is changed to a .wiki extension to deceive users).

Pass-Through Mode

Pass-Through Mode wraps multiple media files and plays them back in sequence similar to an optical disc. When users open .st3 files in this mode, the Access Panel is bypassed and media playback will begin instantly through the STR3EM Player. Content providers have the option to invoke their own custom access rules by using Windows Media Digital Rights Management. The optional STR3EM Browser can be activated with an anonymous link to a webpage providing unlimited monetization options.

Sell, Rent, and Membership Mode

STR3EM includes a system to offer content for purchase, rental or membership access. For access rights, STR3EM ties ownership of files to an end-user's Facebook User ID. Note: Content providers are required to use their own Facebook API keys when using KodeKeys.

KodeKey Options

  • Purchase to own;
  • 1 to 7 day rentals;
  • Membership keys that provide access to all STR3EM files created in an account.
    • Membership keys can be deleted and reinstated with CSV text files.

Screener Mode

Screener Mode provides a secure playback environment for sensitive and classified video. Only friends listed in the content provider’s Facebook account can access STR3EM files in Screener Mode. Upon playback, the user’s name is watermarked on the video window and only a single mouse click to the top or bottom of the video window can close it. Screener Mode will only operate in full screen view and users are encouraged to auto hide the taskbar to gain full view. All keyboard functions are disabled while in Screener Mode. A KodeKey License is required to use this feature.

STR3EM Browser

STR3EM offers an optional anonymous browser for communication with end-users. URL locations are hidden. When pages from Wikipedia.org are used, STR3EM will create a file with the extension .wiki.

KodeKeys

(Please note: the KodeKey License is required to use this feature.)

KodeKey are unique serial numbers assigned to STR3EM files for purchasing, rental, or membership access rights.

Content providers can create passwords with the KodeKey Manager in the STR3EM Creator or import their own passwords from a .csv file.

Content providers can also activate the same KodeKey lists with multiple STR3EM files for diverse business models.

Membership KodeKeys offer content providers the power to grant and restrict access by simply adding and deleting an existing membership key in use. This is useful for clients who cancel their membership but rejoin at a later date.

STR3EM is a secure format which uses up to 12 part password authentication for access rights. For highly sensitive material, we offer an option to create super strong 1,344,000-bit key certificates.

Users are required to load a KKEYCERT before material can be accessed after entering a Master Password or KodeKey Password. A unique certificate can be generated with each new STR3EM created.

KKEYCERT WARNING: Do not use KKEYCERT unless you are an experienced IT professional and have a secure place to store your key files. Losing or damaging (like trying to edit with a text editor) your KKEYCERT will result in permanent loss of access to your STR3EM file.

Access Panel Branding

STR3EM files can show custom banners in the Access Panel. This is useful for creative artwork or an easy way to host alternative payment options for KodeKeys.

Acceptable banners are PNG, GIF, and animated GIF.

About Our Company

The STR3EM format is free to use by anyone in the world without discrimination. The STR3EM application is available for free from download.com and offers an open OEM license to Windows 7 system builders. We provide files on our homepage for users and system builders to test the playback capabilities of computer hardware.

Billing and cancellation to the optional KodeKey license is managed 100% by Amazon Web Services and can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/dp-applications

LAMbCast Ltd, our parent company, is a privately held company with headquarters in New York, USA.

Our R&D firm SECD Enterprises was founded in 2001 and formed Kordor Electronics in 2008 to operate our streaming format technology. STR3EM is the successor to our previous entertainment formats, The Super Enhanced CD and the CS2CD (the unofficial Platinum Book CD specification).

STR3EM is designed to work in an easy common manner as to authoring a CD or DVD. STR3EM is designed as a "future proof" application which adapts to the growing power of computer hardware. The STR3EM application is provided "as is" and resembles a virtual appliance which does not need continuing updates.

For any business related matters please contact: business@str3em.com

IMPORTANT: STR3EM is a decentralized format, meaning we do not keep an archive database or have any way of knowing about the activity of our users. KodeKey licensees are responsible for their use of the STR3EM format (similar to the use of optical disc technology). Any disputes about the use of STR3EM technology must be directed to the source of distribution. The STR3EM Team does not and will never host any third party data content used in the STR3EM format in concert with our KodeKey licensing service with Amazon Web Services.
